WHAT’S ON HIGHLIGHTS
The Hexagon and Concert Hall in Reading will
be welcoming a variety of artists to the stage
in 2018, for the Classical Music Alive in
Reading concert season.
The Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra
bring a rich Russian programme to The
Hexagon on Monday February 26. Under
their music director, Valery Polyansky, the
programme includes some of Tchaikovsky’s
best known ballet music, with excerpts from
The Nutcracker, Swan Lake
and
Sleeping Beauty.
Plus pianist, Hyejin Kim, performs the ever-
popular
Piano Concerto No.2
by Rachmaninov.
The Hexagon’s Resident Orchestra, the Royal
Philharmonic, then return with a romantic
programme which includes the Overture to
Weber’s opera
Euryanthe
, Shostakovich’s
Piano Concerto No.2
with it’s sublime second
movement and cheeky and energetic third
movement, and the concert concludes with
Dvorak’s dramatic yet lyrical
Symphony No.7.
Before this evening concert, we are very
excited to present a fun-filled Relaxed
Concert performed by the Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra, especially for children and adults
with autism, sensory and communication
impairments or learning disabilities, as well as
individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing,
blind or partially sighted.
This will be a fantastic concert which is
produced by Orchestras Live and the RPO in
partnership with The Hexagon and Berkshire
Maestros and supported by Strategic Touring
Funds from Arts Council England.
The Concert Hall welcomes three very
different programmes. Pianist, Steven
Osborne, brings a programme of Prokofiev,
Ravel and Berg to the stage on Thursday
February 22; the classical world’s ‘best known
guitar duo’, Peter and Zoltan Katona, make
their Concert Hall debut on Wednesday
Classical Music
Alive in 2018
