Classical Music Alive in 2020

The Concert Hall and The Hexagon in Reading will be welcoming a variety of artists to the stage in 2020 for the Classical Music Alive in Reading concert season. On Wednesday January 29 the European Union Chamber Orchestra returns to the beautiful surroundings and acoustics of The Concert Hall, with French horn player Ben Goldscheider performing Mozart’s famous Horn Concerto No.4. The concert also features the premiere of a work for strings and youth brass by young British composer, Dani Howard. The brass players will be drawn from our Emerging Artists Partnerships.

In March, we welcome the phenomenal saxophonist Jess Gillam and in April, the American pianist Jonathan Biss. The Hexagon’s resident orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, returns in February with a concert rich in harmony and tenderness from works by Glinka, Brahms and Tchaikovsky. Before this evening concert, we are very excited to present another fun-filled Noisy Kids concert – Circus, Circus- performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Experience all the magic of the circus in this fun-filled family concert. Bite sized pieces of well-known music introduce you to the orchestra, mixed with fun and games from your ringside seat. Featuring music from The Greatest Showman, Carmen, Monty Python, Entry of the Gladiators and much more.

It’s the perfect introduction to orchestral music for children aged  five to 12 and their families. Why not give the gift of music this Christmas?
